PS Plate Price-Revision : Effective April 16, 2009 Aluminium prices continue to fall ! The silver lining amidst the dark clouds of the economic slowdown, offered by falling aluminium prices, continued to shine brightly in the Jan – Mar ’09 quarter. After almost three years of aluminium prices shooting through the roof, the white metal now continues its downward trend with equal vigour. This is evident from its price drop on the LME from an average of USD 1,821, in the last quarter of 2008, to an average of USD 1,359 in the Jan – Mar ’09 quarter. The graph given below depicts the trend of falling aluminium prices on the LME since Oct ’05 till date.  However, during the last one year, the Rupee has been sharply depreciating against the USD, playing a spoilsport, and largely neutralizing the impact of the drop in the LME price of aluminium. From an average level of Rs. 48.76 per USD in the Oct – Dec ’08 quarter, the Rupee has dropped further against the US Dollar. In effect, as shown in the graph below, the average exchange rate of the USD as compared with the Indian Rupee, for Jan – Mar ’09, was Rs. 49.76 to a dollar.  Good News in the times of the Slowdown The net effect of the above two factors, i.e. the steep drop in the average LME price & the rise in the exchange rate of the US dollar, has resulted in a substantial reduction of Rs. 22.60 / kg in the cost of Aluminium. This translates to a significant price drop of Rs. 20 per m2 (rounded off), based on the formula of 0.90 kg consumption of every 1 m2 of PS plates. However, in the last quarter, Hindalco has increased the conversion charges of ingot-to-coil by Rs. 5 per m2 , which has directly affected our cost of aluminium. Factoring in this increase, the effective decrease in our basic prices works out to Rs. 15 per m2. This translates to a significant decrease of Rs. 20.37 per m2 in the end user prices of our 0.28 mm PS plates, w.e.f April 16, 2009. As you are aware, during the interim period, the Excise Duty has reduced from 10.30% to 8.24%. Hence, effectively the decrease in end user prices as compared to January 2009 levels has been almost Rs. 26 per m2 . Please refer to Table 01 for brand-wise & size-wise revised prices. Winner…. once again! Having received frequent requests from customers for a short-run plate, we have decided to re-launch Winner, the erstwhile Lastra Niraj branded plate. Cost Saving Solutions As always, you will continue to receive an attractive cash discount of 5% on the prices mentioned in this Price-list from your dealer, on making cash payments for your purchases. As you are aware, this discount is significantly higher than the interest cost on the additional working capital that you may require to switch over from credit to cash purchase. Moreover, the Companion Scheme introduced for the free supply of certain high performance chemicals will be continued. We are sure that these chemicals will enable you to enhance your productivity and help reduce your costs, and we urge you to contact your TechNova dealer to continue availing these benefits. In Conclusion Everybody has been affected by the economic slowdown, and we are no exception. We continue to reel under the impact of several factors including the economic recession, the credit freeze and the heavy investments made in recent times. The heavy costs attached with these factors still remain unrecovered and are impacting our bottom-line significantly. However, we are committed to linking our plate prices to the cost of aluminium & other direct input costs, as per our MOU with the AIFMP, and we intend to honour these commitments. Despite the turbulent times at present, which have resulted in a drop in the consumption of our products, we remain optimistic, and pray that demand will get back to normal levels in the near future. The above prices will be applicable for billing from TechNova factories w.e.f. April 16, 2009. All other prevailing terms & conditions will be applicable. Terms and Conditions All sizes in Taurus Plus (0.20 mm), Condor & Argos are considered standard sizes and hence no extra charge will be levied. For Slow Moving Sizes (SMS) that are not included in the detailed price list, the per m2 price will be 3.5% higher than the Moderate Moving Sizes (MMS) prices. For bulk volume orders in Slow Moving Sizes (SMS), TechNova would be pleased to negotiate special prices. The Customer prices given in the price list are inclusive of the following :

Delivery : Standard sizes as mentioned in the detailed price list should be available off-the-shelf from your local TechNova dealers. For other sizes, a minimum delivery period of 3 to 4 weeks would be required. Size and Thickness Tolerance :
Rejection Procedure & Claims : Claims in respect of damage or shortage should be informed to your TechNova dealer within seven days of receipt of goods by you from the dealer. TechNova applies strictest quality control at every stage of production and packaging to guarantee that our products are free of manufacturing defects. Products which are found defective, as verified by our Technical Sales Executives, would be replaced free of charge. However, our liability is restricted only to the extent of replacement of the products found to contain inherent manufacturing defects, provided the defective products are returned to us in physically undamaged and unused condition. We do not accept any liability or claim arising out of usage of such plates. General : All disputes arising from any dealings between the Customers and TechNova are subject to the jurisdiction of Mumbai High Court. Force Majeure : We shall not be liable for any penalty or liquidated damages for delay in supply arising out of force majeure of causes beyond our control including, but not limited to, inadequate raw material availability, compliance of regulations, order or injunctions of any Federal, State or Municipal Government or Agency thereof, acts of God or of Public Enemy or Government, acts of omissions of the purchaser, acts of Civil or Military authority, fires, floods, epidemics, quarantine, restrictions, strikes, and / or lock-outs, civil commotion, pestilence, factory shutdowns or alterations, embargos, war declared or undeclared, riots or accidents either in contractor’s or sub-contractor’s work, delays in transportation or inability due to any reason beyond our reasonable control. This will also apply for delays as a consequence of hostilities whether direct or indirect and / or happenings which have direct or indirect repercussions on the said job. For such impediments occurring before or after the scheduled time of dispatch or completion, reasonable extension of time shall be granted to us.
